“Fixing the Mental Health Patient: accepting what we can’t change, changing what we can, and having the wisdom to know the difference.”

This is a powerful trauma workshop for General Practitioners and other professionals delivered by Sarah Campbell, passionate Clinical Psychologist and Director of Ascending Psychology. After starting her career in forensic mental health, Sarah quickly learnt about the complexity of the human condition and how that effects behaviour. Aware that no one diagnosis or theory was remotely sufficient to explain or make sense of her clients, she avidly started to explore behaviour from all angles. In doing so she become fascinated by the trauma literature and the mechanisms that humans utilise to survive. This developed further when she moved to Australia and took a role working in offshore processing. Sarah has since also worked in Remote Aboriginal Communities in Western Australia before settling into the Northern Rivers nearly three years ago.

Sarah has designed this training for General Practitioners, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals who are often at the coal face of the current mental health crisis. Thereafter, she will focus on simple and practical skills that can be utilised by professionals who see patients presenting with a variety of mental health conditions.
