The benefits of our process group therapy program are significant and wide-ranging. By participating in this powerful process, group members will develop and refine the skills to notice, understand, and articulate thoughts and feelings about themselves and other people as they start to form relationships in a group setting. In doing so, members increase their capacity to be seen in the way that they desire and form healthier and more sustainable relationships. Often, the challenges we experience in the world show up in the group experience. What’s important about group therapy is that it gives us the opportunity to slow down and examine the way we relate to others, with the help of safe and real feedback, guided by an experienced moderator.

- Have troubles trusting others
- Experience anxiety in social situations

What will this group be like?
Process groups meet weekly for 90 minutes. Process groups are safe, supportive environments where you can increase interpersonal effectiveness by learning how others experience you while simultaneously increasing your ability to communicate effectively. This can help to identify patterns that keep you stuck, and to try new approaches that allow you to get our needs met in the world. This is not a support group, but rather an interactional group designed to help you overcome fears of vulnerability and give you the tools you need to form satisfying relationships.
What are the details of the group?
This group is open to people of all gender identifications. The group is led by Dr. Christopher Zurawic, a registered clinical psychologist who has worked extensively with groups for 18 years. His training and expertise has been enhanced as a member of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, and he brings a passion for helping group members learn to feel safe in the here-and-now. As part of this, he supports the group to let go of the shame that is most often the obstacle to developing fulfilling relationships. Tuesday morning and evening groups are co-facilitated with Dr. Sierra van Wyk, a registered clinical psychologist who has worked clinically for over 10 years with clients across the lifespan. She is passionate about creating a safe environment for participants to step into vulnerablility and explore their fears and desires within the group setting.
It is important to note that the power of group work comes from each member and it is therefore critical that each person is available for the weekly process. In order to get the most benefit from the process, it is recommended that each person consider committing for at least 20 sessions. This allows for typical dynamics to start manifesting with other participants and offers space to observe, discuss, process and even adjust those patterns. The current group timetable for 2023 is:
Tuesday Mornings: | 10:00am – 11:30am |
Tuesday Evenings: | 5:30pm – 7:00pm |
Thursday Afternoons: | 4:30pm – 6:00pm |
